On May 7, 2024, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City held a ribbon cutting to officially open the St. Joseph Hall portion of its “In Steel and Stone” expansion project, which has been spearheaded by Rangel Construction as the general contractor.

Father Brian Christensen, the cathedral rector, along with Father Dan Juelfs, the diocesan administrator, were on hand to offer blessings and to welcome the visitors, who were served a meal in the hall following the opening ceremonies and a special Mass. Mayor Jason Salamun of Rapid City, several representatives of state and local organizations, and members of Elevate Rapid City were also present for the ribbon cutting. Rangel now turns its attention to the next phase of the project, the remodeling of the downstairs area of the Cathedral, which will include new office spaces and classrooms and the renovation of the current restrooms. Completion is anticipated for mid-summer 2024.
