Pennington County Housing Repair

Article image

In early April, a tragic and fatal accident took place which involved a car traveling at high speed that crashed, air borne, into the side of an apartment complex in Rapid City. The point of impact was directly into the floor truss system of the three-story building.

The electrical and natural gas services were also damaged, requiring shutoff to the building.  All occupants of the complex were evacuated. The same day of the incident, Rangel Construction had men onsite working to develop a repair plan and begin stabilizing the structure.  Utilities were restored to the building within two weeks, and the occupants were able to return. Repairs to the three affected apartments are currently in process, and all work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
