Project Summary
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help project in Rapid City was likely the most technically challenging work Rangel Construction has ever performed. The five major project phases included demolition of an existing masonry building and reconstruction of the site parking, driveway, and landscaped areas, the building of an 11,000 sq ft concrete/steel/masonry addition consisting of a new parish hall, new public restrooms, new commercial kitchen, new front lobby, and a new storage room, the construction of an interior rampway from the new lobby into the existing side chapel, the remodeling of 8,000 sq ft of basement area, which included restroom reconstruction, offices, a meeting room, and classroom spaces, and the deconstruction, relocation, reconstruction, and restoration of an existing masonry/concrete/marble/stained glass Baptistry building (a feat that won Rangel Construction a Construction Industry Center award.) Under the supervision of project manager Mario Rangel, superintendent Josh Button, and jobsite production and safety manager Wayne Alexander, the project began in May 2022 and was completed in November 2024.
